Motorola One and Moto X4 Rolled Out Android Pie in the U.S.

The global Motorola One variant received its Android 9 Pie update a few weeks ago. Now, device owners in the U.S. can get their hands on Google’s newest Android update this week. Better yet, Android 9 Pie is also rolling out to the Moto X4 in the U.S. this week.

Strangely sufficient, Motorola’s U.S. software updates page still states that the devices “will be upgraded to the Android 9 (Pie) release.” We imagine that Motorola will update the page as the week progresses.

This makes the One and Moto X4 the first two Motorola devices to get Android 9 Pie in the U.S. Sadly, this also means that Motorola still has seven other devices to update.

According to a Reddit user with a Moto X4 on Google Fi, the update derives with build number PPW29.69-26 and contains the November security patch. We’re not sure if the same goes for the Motorola One, though Motorola tends to lag a bit when it comes to security patches.

It also sounds like there aren’t any Motorola-specific tweaks comprised in the update. That said, the Moto X4 will get hands-free Alexa functionality by the end of the year through the Amazon Alexa app.

As a brief review, Android 9 Pie features a new navigation method, updated fast settings, enhanced notifications, and more. You can check out our Android 9 Pie assessment to learn much more about the update
